Carduelis tristis This delicate piece captures the fragile nature of life as a small bird as fall approaches and grasses are no longer green. The bird is of tupelo, the grass is steel and the base is maple burl. It may be seen at the Robert Paul Galleries.

Carduelis tristis This gregarious little bird is one of the first splashes of spring color at most North American bird feeders. The catkins at the base are found as left-overs from fall seed production. The bird is tupelo, the branch is brass, the catkins are tupelo and brass and the base is leaded basswood. This piece is in a private collection.
