This one-half life-size sculpture stands 15 inches tall. The meticulous detail is painted in acrylics. The owl and branch are carved of tupelo. It is my interpretation of Keith Mueller’s design and was begun in Michigan at the Krausman’s studio class. It is available for purchase.
Bubo virginianus] This 12 inch tall piece captures the quiet confidence of the tiger of the woods. It has the finest detail and painting of any of the birds done so far. It is world class in workmanship. The owl and branch are of tupelo. The base is of seared maple burl. It was entered in the 2009 Ward World Championship Carving Competition, World Level. It is in a private collection.
Bubo virginianus Majestically perched on a branch, this great horned owl surveys its domain with hypnotic calm. This award-winner was carved from tupelo wood and completed in 2001. This carving received an Honorable Mention at the 32nd Annual Ward World Championship Wildfowl Carving Competition (2002), in the category of Novice Decorative Miniature Wildfowl – Birds of Prey. It is in a private collection.
